Kardinya Park ready for big renovation

By November 21, 2019January 30th, 2021No Comments

Kardinya Park Shopping Centre will embark upon its first renovation in 27 years as the asset falls into full ownership of Con Berbatis.

It was initially bought by formidable property duo George Atzemis and Dr Berbatis in 1989.

Dr Berbatis took full control after their partnership split last year. The pharmacist-turned-property mogul is keen to continue down the property line, after finalising the asset split with Mr Atzemis before Christmas.

Project spokesman Clint Ford said “nothing is off the table” in the upgrade, with Dr Berbatis considering new shops, better dining entertainment and even residential amenities such as onsite apartments.

It was hoped the project would move to a formal planning stage this year. “We are telling the community early about our plans . . . it is a loyal community and we want to share the journey from the very start,” Mr Ford said. He said Kardinya Park would keep its customers and community stakeholders informed at each stage of the project, and it intended to engage directly with the community before moving to the approval stage.

The centre has Kmart, Coles, Liquorland and 43 specialty retailers.
